Trucks are a key component of your skateboard. They are attached to your deck and support it. Without trucks, your board would just be a flimsy platform for your wheels. Without a complete setup, you wouldn’t be able to skateboard.

Skateboard truck parts are the kingpin, bushings, and hanger. These parts are made of steel or aluminum alloy and are designed to fit together in a specific way. The truck hanger is the central metal piece that protrudes from either end of the truck assembly. The hangers can be made from either round or square tubing. The kingpin is the pin inserted into the bottom of the truck hanger. The kingpin is where the hanger meets the baseplate.

Load Capacity

The load capacity of skateboard trucks is a number used to determine how much the truck can handle. This number can be calculated by multiplying the wheelbase of the skateboard by the axle width by the truck angle. Ideally, you should never surpass this value.


The wheelbase of a skateboard is the measurement from the center of the wheels on one side of the board to the center of the wheels on the other side of the board. A larger wheelbase will result in a larger turning radius, while a smaller wheelbase will produce a shorter turning radius.

Trucks with low hangers are ideal for beginners because they are easy to control. You can attach the wheels higher in the body, allowing you to ride up to speeds of 25 mph. The hangers also have long axles to give you better turning capabilities.

Trucks with high hangers are less appropriate for beginners because they can be challenging to control. Their high hangers provide more stability, so you can ride faster and go at higher speeds without having to lean into the turns. They also have shorter axles that allow you to turn sharply. Since they are more challenging, caution is advised for beginners.
